C.H.A.I
C.H.A.I stands for "Care, Help, Aid, Israel". For the last decade, C.H.A.I. has been supporting Jewish Communities all over the world. We feed thousands of people in need, support yeshivot and kollelim, and provide mezuzot, tefilin, and sifrei Torah for the IDF and for the less fortunate. We have a team of young professionals and entrepreneurs bringing new and exciting ideas to the table every day.
FEED LA
Living in a world that wastes over a trillion pounds of food every year, it is absolutely shocking to consider that over 1 in every 10 people go to bed hungry at night.
Chai was founded in 2004 around the outbreak of a massive food shortage in Israel. Chai’s first initiative was to organize food drives around the country to help and support families in need and provide help anywhere possible. Once the general food shortage recovered, Chai then continued its services to develop grocery stores that would be completely free for people in need. The objective and mission for Chai had always been to help families while understanding the hardships and social pressures around poverty. These "supermarkets" gave families the chance to regain their pride and fit in with their communities. Children could select whatever items they so chose while remaining oblivious to the fact that everything is free, and parents could hold their heads up high knowing that their children and communities treated them with respect. Today Chai still exists as one of the most prominent charities in Israel, as it begins a new chapter in growth.
As a global organization, Chai’s contributions have been unquantifiable, successfully helping Jews around the world for over a decade. Today we move forward with a new initiative, helping individual communities and promoting their growth outwards. We recognize many struggling Jewish hubs around the world and understand the power of communitization. In other words, we believe that people can be more effective in helping people in their communities as well as making charity more meaningful by contributing where they live.
In organizing this new operation, we wanted to use inspiration from our previous work in Israel. We’ve purposefully developed a system that utilizes modern innovation to maximize efficiency and reduce any unnecessary embarrassment for any community members. Chai has organized a system that partners with Google shopping to make deliveries completely anonymous. The system allows people in need to receive the best goods from the best suppliers in a time-efficient thoughtful way. therefore, we can ensure anonymity and truly bring respect back to families in need.
With the help of G-d, and through meaningful and dedicated work, we hope to launch Chai’s new initiative by September 2018.
We at Chai recognize the issues and struggles within communities to sustain themselves. We’ve developed a team of committed and competent individuals to help over 250 families presently and to strengthen our Jewish community in LA. Our mission is to make sure that no Jew in L.A. should go to sleep hungry again.
